Fall 2024 Virtual Events

Public Speaking

Record the 1-3 minute delivery of a compelling speech, showcasing communication skills, persuasiveness, and ability to engage an audience on the following topic:


 The Power of Teen Leadership: Explore the unique strengths and contributions that young leaders bring to their communities and schools. 


OR


 Leadership through Innovation: Discuss how innovative thinking and creative problem-solving are essential aspects of leadership.  


This video may be submitted as a YouTube link, MP4 file, or embedded on a single PPT slide.

Social Impact Proposal

 Identify and develop an innovative solution for a real-world social issue, showcasing problem-solving abilities and dedication to fostering positive change.  


Examples of social impact projects include combating youth homelessness, empowering teens against cyberbullying, reducing plastic waste. etc.  Note: This is a proposal only, not initiation of an actual project. Issues may be small scale (local, community, neighborhood) or large scale (state, nationwide, worldwide).


This proposal may be submitted as an essay, multimedia presentation, PDF report, or video. 

Multimedia Presentation

Multimedia Presentation

  Using using PowerPoint, Slides, or Prezi, create an engaging multimedia presentation that blends visuals, narration, and storytelling to convey insights on the following topic: 


 Leadership in History: Explore historical figures known for their leadership qualities, like Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, or Eleanor Roosevelt, and their contributions to society. 


OR


 Leadership in Sports: Investigate leadership qualities in sports captains, coaches, and athletes, emphasizing teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. 

Resume Writing

Multimedia Presentation

 Provide a resume that highlights educational achievements, extracurricular involvement, work experience, and leadership experiences. Resumes should be designed with a job, scholarship, or college application in mind.

Service Project Report

Present a comprehensive report on an individual service project, detailing its planning, execution, and impact, emphasizing your dedication to making a positive difference in the community.  This event is specific to charitable service work.


This report may be submitted as a PDF.

Leadership and Community Engagement Report

 Share about your leadership journey and community involvement, emphasizing the skills, lessons learned, connections made, and skills developed in the process. This event is for any leadership role held - sports, clubs, etc.


This report may be submitted as a PDF.

Ethics Essay

 Engage with a real-world ethical dilemma, using critical thinking, personal values, and moral reasoning. Identify the conflict of interest or ethical issue, evaluate it from both sides, and provide a resolution.


Topic:

 As a leader in a community service club, you're faced with a choice: should your group partner with a local business that has ethical concerns? Some members see the potential benefits, like additional financial resources, while others stress the importance of sticking to your club's values. How would you handle this moral dilemma, balancing the need for resources with your group's principles? 


MS: 1-2 pages, double-spaced

HS: 2-3 pages, double-spaced

Service Essay

 Compose an essay on the assigned topic that explores the intersection of community service and leadership, how active engagement can drive positive change, and influence the development of effective leadership skills.
